Brief: Decide target group and start design work
Group Partners: Xin, Jae. Lulu, Chun
Summary of our observation and practice reviews:
Familiar scents/objects may build trust
Maintain privacy in public space
Natural environment
Interactions/eye contacts
Design Ideas:
Pay attention to the vulnerable groups in the community - During the Covid19 pandemic, elders/physical disabilities who live by themselves rely on community staff/volunteers to have life supplies.
Multifunctional community - a share space can have different functions
Gathering place - Lack of cohesion:People develop across regions, blurring the boundaries of communities

After discussion, we decide to focus on the Chinese community and also build a functional installation that could be widely used in any type of community.

Based on our target groups, and also previous observations and practice reviews. Each of us has some directions and ideas. After the votes, we decided to do Direction 2. Which is creating a safe shared space for grandparents and children.

Parents stay in the middle and children may play at the outer part.

Space itself is the safety guarantee, we also consider the technology measurement, such as fingerprinting and emergency alarm.
