Project 2.3 The UX of Conversation

Brief: A conversation between two human bodied machines.

Group Partners: Lining Zhang, Jiayao Zhang, Chun Li

Research Methods:

A-The activity is that the different tactile sensations attract people, create an opportunity of starting social connections with others, forced them to put away their smartphones

E-The events would mostly happen in public places in which you surrounded by strangers or people you are not familiar with. Such as coffee shops, schools, tour groups, and companies

I-Grabbed attention by the texture and have a short duration of touch

O-The decoration of clothes which have different tactile sensations

U-Users are any two human bodies who are not familiar with each other

Storyboards:

Inspired by the attachment theory, we decided to make a wearable decoration, which can be put on our clothes or belongings.

Outcome:

We bought different fluffy textures of materials, make them become wearable trinkets. (double-sided tape:)

Speed Dating:

We choose one of our storytelling environment as speed dating.

Abigail and July decide to go to a party, they enjoyed and drank a little. After a while, they saw a girl came in, none of them know her. However, she wore a unique decoration, looks fluffy and cute. Girls cannot ignore the attraction.

A: "Look at her! What's on her jacket?! It seems so cute! OMG!"

J: "Oh that's so adorable! Come on let's talk to her!"

A: "Hello~"

J: "Hi, my name is July and this is Abigail. We are so attracted by your little fluffy trinkets!"

A: "Yaeeees, where did you get it?"

The unacquainted girl seemed a little nervous first, but after the greetings, she became a little relaxed and started to chat with Abigail and July.

Summary and reflection:

During the second project, we seemed still not sure about what we should do. However, the process was a little painful. Making an abstract concept to become a design was hard, but it was enjoyable. We have a small group, but we successfully finished. It's my pleasure to be friends with these two girls.
